Primary Focus:
The discoveryHimalaya group's primary focus is to develop sustainable
tourism and to create employment opportunities for the unemployed in the
Eastern Himalaya region.
discoveryHimalaya established in 1998 and intitially engaged itself in
some research works. Instead of operating tours and treks straight away
the members of discoveryHimalaya felt that the company should start its
operation only after properly studying and understanding the people, flora
and fauna, natural and built heritage of the Eastern Himalayas. Finally,
after four years of these excercise discoveryHimalaya has decided to launch
its operations from the autumn season of 2002. The company will start
the commencement of its operations in the Eastern Himalayas this year
is significant to the company and the Himalayas due to 2002 being declared
the International Year of the Mountains by the UNESCO.
We at the discoveryHimalaya strive to get you personally involved in the
country, its culture, its people and its flora and fauna to give you one
of the most rewarding experiences possible. Your safety and well being
during the tour/trek is our concern and we leave nothing to chance. We
don't skip or cut corners and we ensure every small detail is taken care
of, knowledge and experience of the area within which they work. The are
